What are the benefits of applying for PR in Singapore?

Living in Singapore is a highly sought-after destination for expats; for many reasons. The Lion City is ranked continuously high each year in being the safest and most desirable country to live in, in the world. So it is no surprise then that permanent residency status in that city-state is highly sought after. Here are some benefits of becoming a PR:

  1. Real estate and housing.
  2. Reap the benefits of the Central Provident Fund (CPF) and various government subsidies for healthcare, public housing and schooling.
  3. More job opportunities with your PR status for you and your family members.
  4. Applying for long-stay visas for your parents
  5. You will be able to travel in and out of Singapore freely and without permits.
  6. The ease of setting up a business
  7. The city-state, as of 2020, is ranked the second most powerful passport in the world (190 destinations), just one below Japan.singapore flag

What are the Benefits of your Spouse being a Permanent Resident?

If your spouse is working in Singapore, becoming a Permanent Resident will help them for tax purposes and job prosperity. However, if your spouse isn’t in the workforce, it is still beneficial for them because getting their Permanent Residency also allows them the same government subsidies for public housing and healthcare.

There are four types of schemes you may apply for which are:

  1. Family Scheme with you being a Singapore Citizen or a Permanent Resident and legally married, where you will then be able to sponsor your spouse.
  2. Professionals, Technical Personnel and Skilled Workers Scheme, where your applications go in at the same time, and you are your spouse’s sponsor.
  3. Global Investor Programme, and this goes in at the same time as yours, and you will submit your spouse as your dependent.
  4. Professionals, Technical Personnel and Skilled Workers Scheme or Global Investor Programme through their own merits with a valid Work Pass, Employment Pass, Personalised Employment Pass or Entrepreneur Pass

Should you consider applying for your children too?

If your child is under the age of 21, unmarried and is currently attending school in Singapore, then you may want to consider your options. Remember that under the Family Scheme, by definition, your child must either be legally adopted by you or your biological child to qualify. Please note – All male Permanent Residents and Citizens of Singapore have to serve the compulsory uniformed services when they reach the age of 18.

Paul Immigrations Reviews – How does it all work?

Step 1

If this interests you then head over to Paul Immigrations website and fill in the assessment form, it won’t cost you a thing. After your initial assessment online, you will receive a call from one of the Immigration Consultants (IC), and the first round of interviews will be conducted to ensure your eligibility for Permanent Residency.

Information gathered will consist of the type of work pass you currently hold, whether you have any family ties to citizens or PR’s or if you have any current pending applications. Once the information has been collected, the IC will then conduct profile screening which consists of your age, length of stay so far, your salary etc.

Step 2

The IC will confirm in a face to face interview whether the information over the phone is the correct information. Physical proof is required. Your profile assessment is discussed, and the IC will advise you of the likelihood of a successful PR application, by explaining the factors that might affect your approval. It is here you can decide whether or not to continue down the path, and if you do, then they will help you to improve your chances.

Step 3

Documents are then requested and can be submitted by either scheduling another meeting, sending them via email or audited form submission.

Step 4

The Immigration Specialist (IS) who takes over from here will then collate the information and assess it by the PR criteria. IS will assist in the completion of the necessary documentation, and then draft a letter on your behalf.

Step 5:

Application is submitted by you – you must note, however, that step 1-5 can take approximately two months.

Step 6

This stage of the process is where you need to be patient; this process can take four to six months, depending on the client. The well-established consultancy will then guide you on the best course of action.

If all of the information that has been provided in this review ticks all of your boxes, then Paul Immigrations is the right path for you, with their professional staff, excellent success rate and transparent approach, why would you try and do it yourself?
